Domaine de la Folie
Chemin de la Folie
The Domaine de la Folie is in Chagnyen Bourgogne, to the north of the Côte Chalonaise, in the village which boasts the 3-star Lameloise restaurant.
Perched on its "mountain", it offers an exceptional panorama over the surrounding vineyards.
Its wines include the most sought-after "Climats" of the Rully appellation, such as Clos Saint-Jacques Premier Cru Monopole and Vieilles vignes, and Clos de Bellecroix.
The Domaine de la Folie has belonged to the Noël-Bouton family for three centuries.
The property was re-established and developed by the famous physiologist Etienne-Jules Marey, who was a professor at the Collège de France, a pioneer of the development of motion pictures and inventor of the chronophotographic gun and sphygmograph.
The name "la Folie" is very old. According to some historians it may refer to a fairy dance known as "la folia". The people of Chagny used to see lights swirling at night or fairies dancing...
Nowadays, Baptiste and Clémence Dubrulle, fifth generation family members, manage and develop the estate and welcome its visitors.
